(Muhammad) 47 : 19

So know that there is no Deity except Allah, and seek forgiveness for your own offences and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows your movements and your abode.

This verse teaches the Messenger and thereby the believers that Allah alone is the One to whom refuge and help are to be sought, upon whom trust is to be placed, whom alone should be feared, and before whom everyone must answer for life. It also commands the Messenger and thereby the believers to seek forgiveness only for their own offences and for the offences of believing men and believing women who approve Allah as the single Deity. Contrary to this, they are not allowed to seek forgiveness for the disbelieving Hypocrites or their strayed followers, who are Arabic Qur’an Reading Fujjar whose Ledger is in Sijjeen of Hell. See explanation 9:84–85, 113–114; 33:35; and 37:34–36.
