(95) At-Theen
This Surath got the name “At-Theen (the Fig)” from the first verse, which says, “By the Fig and the Olive.” This Surath, containing eight verses, was revealed in the early period of the Messenger’s Meccan life, before he faced severe opposition from the Meccan pagans.
Mankind, who is deputed upon the earth with freedom to choose either the single way of gratefulness or the different ways of ungratefulness, is created in the Best Calendar (shape) — the shape of the Creator Lord. After receiving Adhikr – the Best Interpretation of the Lord’s Book, whoever neglects It becomes the lowest among the lowest.
