(85) Al-Burooj

This Surath got the name Al-Burooj (The Safe Barricade) from the first verse, which says, “the sky having the Safe Barricade.” This Surath was revealed in the middle period of the Messenger’s Meccan life. By recounting the torturous deeds committed by disbelievers against the believers, it warns that disbelievers in every period have tried to turn believers back from belief in the Single Lord, and if they do not retreat from such deeds, they will have a burning punishment in the Fire. This Surath, containing 22 verses, ends by giving the Glad Tidings that the believers who, by utilizing Adhikr—the safeguard—live here with the consciousness that the Three-Time-Knower, the Well-Acquainted, and the Dictator Lord is observing everything will have the ultimate great victory.
