(84) Al-Inshiqaaq

With the name of Allah, the Impartial, the Compassionate.

(84) Al-Inshiqaaq

This Surath, containing 25 verses, got the name Al-Inshiqaaq (“Rend Asunder”) from the first verse, which says, “When the sky rends asunder.” This Surah was revealed in the early period of the Messenger’s Meccan life. It portrays the scenes that will happen at the coming of the Last Day. It reminds us that on that Day, mankind will undergo Trial before the Lord. Along with giving the glad tidings that those who utilise Adhikr will be given their book of deeds in their right hands, will undergo a simple Trial, and will receive uninterrupted reward in the Hereafter, it also warns that those who hide and reject Adhikr after receiving It, and who spend their time in play and amusement with their families, will have a painful punishment. Such disbelievers do not fall in the prostration of recitation while reading the verses that enable nearness to Allah.
