With the name of Allah, the Impartial, the Compassionate.
(79) An-Nazi'ath
This Surah is named An-Nazi’ath—Those Who Drag Forth—from the first verse, “by those who drag forth,” and was revealed in the early period of the Messenger’s Maccan life. It teaches that Angels seize the Spirit of disbelievers harshly and of believers gently, while the fore-runners—who will enter Paradise without trial—will hasten through the opened gates; when the last fore-runner departs, the end of the world will occur. By recounting the destruction of Pharaoh, who declared, “I am your highest Lord,” it gives a moral lesson for the Muhsins who live here, seeing the Lord. Those who trespass the bounds of the Lord’s Book have Fire as their abode, and those who fear Allah and restrain their will and whim have Paradise as their abode. Containing 46 verses, it ends by warning that when the Last Hour is seen, the disbelievers will feel they lived in this world only for “Isha” at night or “Duha” by day.
