(Al-Mursalath) 77 : 31
لَا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ
Which neither gives coolness nor protects from the flame of fire.
By “shade,” it does not mean a shade giving cold; rather, it means a shade of heating black smoke causing discomfort and burning. It is the worst experience—opposite to the comfort and enjoyments the believers will have in Paradise as told in verse 76: 13. See explanation 7: 40-41 and 70: 4.
