(At-Thahreem) 66 : 1
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَكَ ۖ تَبْتَغِي مَرْضَاتَ أَزْوَاجِكَ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
Oh prophet! Why do you make prohibited what Allah has permitted to you seeking the satisfaction of your wives, and Allah is the Oft-forgiving, the Merciful.
Once Messenger happened to drink honey from Zainab-one of the wives of Messenger, and by knowing about this, the other two wives Ayisha and Hafsa expressed their resentment saying that Messenger has a bad smell of a particular flower having stench. Then Messenger took the oath that he will never drink honey thereafter. Addressing the Messenger, this verse reminds that there is no need to make prohibited the honey by oath which Allah has allowed to drink. See explanation 12: 12, 108; and 33: 28-29.
