ADHIKR

This Surah got the name Athwalaq-The Divorce-from the first verse which says that if you are divorcing your wives, then you divorce them for the ‘waiting period’. This Surah was revealed during the early period of Messenger Muhammed’s Medina life in order to clear the doubts regarding the divorce laws revealed in Surah Al-Baqara. This Surah teaches that the divorce should be done only for the waiting period, the duration of which is three months, and in the case of pregnant woman it is until she delivers her pregnancy. This Surah also teaches that whether Male or Female, no one is commanded except with what he/she can, and so the divorced woman should breastfeed her child, and the father of the child should give ransom to the mother for it as much as he can. This Surah also teaches that for the one who heeds Allah, he will get remedy for any of his problem. This Surah also gives Glad Tiding that Lord has deputed Messenger Muhammed with Adhikr-the Evidence and Reminder-in order to deliver the believers from the darkness to the Light, and they will get Paradises beneath which rivers will be flowing, and they will abide in it forever enjoying the sustenance they will be provided from it. This Surah containing 12 verses ends saying that the command of Allah who has created seven heavens and seven earth like that is happening in all of them, and that these are explained to know that Lord Allah who is acquainted with everything.
