(64) At-Thagabun
This Surah got the name At-Thagabun-the Gain and Loss- from the ninth verse which says that ‘It is the Day the gain and loss will be revealed’. This Surah containing 18 verses is revealed during the first period of Messenger’s Medina life. It is told in this verse that the Three Time Knower Lord Allah who has created and are controlling the heavens, the earth, and every thing in between them has created the mankind who is the vicegerent of the Lord in the best calendar. He is the one who knows even the status of their chests. He has deputed Messengers from among the mankind for their Guidance, and He has also fixed a Day of Judgement for gathering everyone and for evaluating everyone’s deeds. After receiving Lord’s Book, those who lived here under the light of Adhikr will be led to the Paradise, whereas who hide and reject It after receiving will be led to the Hellfire. By calling the believers this Surah teaches that among your wives and children there are enemies to you, so you should be beware of them; and also that your wealth and children are only a means of trial. This Surah ends reminding that by understanding the aim of life, everyone should spend from the best for himself/herself, and that if it is given a good loan to Allah, then He who is the Appraiser of gratitude and who is the Exalted and Wise will pay it back to you in manifold, and He will forgive to you your sins, and whoever is free from the covetousness of the soul, such are the prospers.
