(Annajm) 53 : 36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
Or hasn’t he been notified with what is in the Scripture of Moses?
Before deputing Muhammad as Messenger, the people at Mecca were obliged to live according to the code of conduct of the Scripture of Messenger Moses. Since the mother of Messenger Muhammad—Amina—hadn’t lived according to the code of conduct of Moses’ Scripture, Allah prohibited Messenger Muhammad from seeking forgiveness for her, who had died when Muhammad was six years old, as explained in verses 9: 113-114.
