(51) Al-Addariyath

This Surath got the name ‘Addariyath’ (Scattering) from the first verse ‘The scattering wind’. This Surath, containing 60 verses, was revealed during the early period of the Messenger’s Meccan life as a continuation of the revelation of Surath ‘Qaaf’. In the different characteristics of wind, the sky having different paths, in the creation of the earth, and in the creation of themselves, there are so many signs for mankind to understand the necessity of implementing the Day of Judgment. This Surath mentions the event about Angels coming to Ibrahim in the form of humans and informing him of glad news about the son having the Knowledge, and also about the annihilation of the people of Looth who were Mujirims and transgressors. This Surath, besides commanding to learn lessons from this event, also commands to learn lessons from the description of historical events of Pharaoh-Moses, the people of Aad, Thamood, and the people of Noah who were destroyed before.

It is told in this Surath that you remind with Adhikr, indeed the Reminding will be beneficial to the believers. This Surath consoles the Messenger and believers, saying that the defiant and disbelieving people of every period had ridiculed the concerned Messengers, ascribing to them that they were ‘a sorcerer’ and a ‘Sprite-affected man’. It is said that mankind and Sprites are not created for feeding the Lord, but are created for serving the Lord. This Surath ends by warning that the disbelievers and wrongdoers who are hiding and rejecting Adhikr, and their Jinn soulmate, will get the valley ‘Vail’ from Hell.
