Surely We had taken agreement with the Children of Israel and We had sent the Messengers to them; Whenever any Messenger came to them with whatever against their whims, they rejected some of them, and they were killing some of them.
The Children of Israel by rejecting the Lord's Book and Messengers were following their whims and they used to kill many Prophets appointed to them as explained in verse 2: 62. They even attempted to kill Messenger Jesus, but the Exalted Lord raised him bodily to the Second Heaven as explained in verse 4: 158. The Jews and Christians during Messenger Muhammad's time were boasting proudly that they are following their forefathers. They tried to kill Messenger Muhammad as explained in verse 5: 11. Since Messengers are deputed with Lord’s Message and Angels are always with them, nobody can kill them.
After thirty years of Messenger Muhammad's departure, his people became the Arabic Quran reading Fujjar who have made their food 'rejecting Adhikr' as explained in verse 7: 26. By hiding and rejecting Adhikr they are not following any of the 313 Messengers. By accepting the names and costumes of Prophets and by leading a bodily and worldly life without considering the soul and Hereafter, they are ridiculing all Prophets, Messengers, and Islam before mankind as explained in verses 3: 21-22. By serving Satan and following books written by the pseudo-prophets, they don’t realize that the Safeguard of Adhikr is undertaken by the Lord of the worlds as explained in verse 2: 2.
