(Al-Fath'h) 48 : 12

Nay, you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families forever, it is made allured into your hearts, and your thoughts were evil thoughts, and you were a worthless people.

The hypocrites and the Bedouins who were attracted to this worldly and bodily life were thinking that the Maccan pagans would either eradicate Messenger and the believers or would take them as captives. But against their expectation, Messenger and believers returned safely to their family without happening any distress. Then they were saying many excuses for not accompanying Messenger and believers to ‘Umra’. To the disbelievers who don’t make their Jinn soulmate in to believers as explained in verses 43: 36-39, their jinn soulmate Satan will make attractive his evil deeds and thoughts as good as explained in verses 6: 43; and 34: 20. As explained in verses 25: 17-18, on the Day when everyone will be summoned in the Hereafter, Allah will ask the saint people whom the Fujjar were invoking in this world: Did you mislead these, My servants; or did they strayed themselves? The saint people will answer: Glory is to You! It was not suitable for us to select any patrons besides You; but You provided them and their forefathers livelihood until they forgot Adhikr and became a worthless people. The worst people in every period are having evil thought about the believer who says that no one can become a believer without the Permission-Adhikr-as explained in verse 10: 100, or no deed will be accepted without becoming a believer as explained in verse 2: 186. See explanation 4: 72-73; 14: 28-30; 25: 30; and 46: 5-6.
