With the name of Allah, the Impartial, the Compassionate.
(48) Al-Fath'h
This Surath got the name ‘Al-Fath’h’ which means ‘The Victory’ from the first verse which says ‘Indeed, We have opened to you a manifest Victory’. In the sixth year of Hijra, the Messenger and companions started for Mecca to perform ‘Umra’. But on the way, the disbelievers from Mecca obstructed the Messenger and companions at Hudaibiya, which is 20 kilometers from Mecca. From there, a treaty was made between the Messenger and Meccan pagans containing some conditions, such as in that year the Messenger and companions should return to Medina without performing Umra, and in the next year they could come to Mecca and perform ‘Umra’. Thus, they returned to Medina. At that time, the Surah containing 29 verses was revealed.
It is Almighty Allah who created mankind in Paradise and deputed them to the earth; He causes everything to happen, including battle, treaty, etc. It is to separate the believers and hypocrites. And also for the believers to increase their belief, to get forgiveness for their offenses, and to get great reward from Allah in the Hereafter; and for Allah punishing the hypocritical men and women, as well as the Mushrik men and women who have evil concepts regarding Allah. This Surath warns that the hypocrites who desire to cause disaster for believers are a worthless people, and to such disbelievers who don’t believe with Allah and His Messenger, the blazing fire is kept prepared for them.
By mentioning that on the Day of Meccan Victory, the believers were not permitted to fight with disbelievers, this Surath teaches that since today the odd believers and hypocrites are living here in mingling without separated, the Command of the verses 4: 91; 5: 33; 9: 5, 123; and 33: 60-61 to kill the hypocrites is not come in force here. It is told in this Surath that the lifestyle that Allah is satisfied with His entire creatures will be implemented in this world itself. Muhammad is the Messenger to convey Allah’s Message to His entire mankind, and those who are with him behave mercifully among them, and are harsh towards the Kuffar who hide the verses of Allah. If it is mentioned in Thourath that the mark of prostration is visible on their faces, in Injeel they are compared to a crop that grows flourishingly on its own stem without any support, surprising the farmer.
