And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures that He has spread in both of them, and He is capable of gathering them altogether whenever He wishes.
Since it is told in this verse, “the living creatures that He has spread in both of them,” it is clear that there are living creatures beyond the earth, in other planets also. But only mankind is deputed as the Lord’s vicegerents on earth, as explained in verse 2:30. Only they are taught Adhikr, which is the Balance and Trust to keep the universe in equilibrium. When everyone on earth becomes wrongdoers and transgressors without utilizing Adhikr, the Day of Judgment, which is meant to gather all creatures in the heavens and earth, will occur, as explained in verses 6:47 and 46:35. It is told in verse 22:18 that whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth—the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the beasts, a large number from mankind, and a large number upon whom punishment is applicable—prostrate to Allah. “A large number upon whom punishment is applicable” refers to the true disbelievers (Fujjar) mentioned in verses 4:150-151, who perform five times prayer without the participation of the soul. See explanation 30:22; 31:10-11 and 45:13.
