(4) Annisa

This Surath is revealed in Medina in between the 3rd and 5th years of Hijra. It is revealed after the Battle of Uhud in which seventy followers of Messenger Muhammed were killed. It contains the laws about their widows and children who became orphans and indigents, and the laws about indigents, and the laws of inheritance.

This Surath contains 176 verses that explain several stages for divorce, the list of women with whom the marriage is prohibited, the list of true disbelievers, the laws of salutations, the code of conduct towards hypocrites, the real character of the people of the Book, the severe punishment for the rejecters of Lord’s Book and the laws as well as the ransom when a believer kills another believer unintentionally. It contains verses advising the believers to give protection to women, children, and the weaklings even in battles. It also contains verses introducing Satan, Prophet Jesus’ raising to the Heaven bodily, and his second coming to the earth, and verses which say that the Book is the Proof and the Light for the entire mankind.
