(Zumar) 39 : 43
أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ شُفَعَاءَ ۚ قُلْ أَوَلَوْ كَانُوا لَا يَمْلِكُونَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ
Or they have chosen intercessors besides Allah, you ask: Even though they do not have any kingship and they are not utilizing the intelligence?
Here mentioned intercessors whom the disbelievers have selected besides Allah are the saint people who were endowed with intelligence. But, since they have died, they are unable to utilize their intelligence and are not having any power. See explanation 8: 22; 16: 20-21; 39: 3, 8.
