When he became old enough to share endeavors with him; he said: Oh my son! Indeed I have seen in dream I am slaughtering you; then what is your view regarding it? He said: Oh my father! You do what you are commanded with, if Allah intends you will see me among the patients.
The dream of the Messengers is part of the revelation from the Lord. At that time, Ibrahim and Sara were residing in Palestine, while Hajara and Ismael were in Mecca. Ibrahim went to Mecca and informed Ismael of the dream and asked for his response. By replying, “Do what you are commanded,” Ismael demonstrated his readiness to undergo any Command of the Lord, living up to his name, “forbearing,” mentioned in verse 37: 101. As explained in verses 12: 36 and 101, Prophet Yoosuf was taught the interpretation of dreams. As explained in verse 2: 98, Messenger Muhammad replied to a group of Jews that even when his eyes were sleeping, his heart was not. See explanation 2: 124.
