(37) Swaffaath
This Surath is named Swaffat (Those Lined Up in Ranks) from the first verse. It was revealed in the middle of the Meccan period of the Messenger Muhammad. To prove that Allah is the Only Deity of the universe, it explains the creation of the universe, Angels, Jinns, and more. The Surath also describes the pathetic condition of arguments between hypocritical disbelievers and their weakling followers in the Hereafter. It details the good fortune and the delicious favors promised to the exclusive servants of Allah in Paradise. It also depicts a believer seeing his friend in the midst of Hell who didn’t testify Adhikr in this world and warns about the Zakhoom tree, which is the food of the inmates of Hell.
This Surath narrates the story of the first Messenger, Noah, who was saved in an ark while the disbelievers were destroyed by drowning in a flood. It also recounts how, as a Trial from Allah, when Messenger Ibrahim was ready to sacrifice his first son, Ismael, Allah provided a goat through Angel Jibreel to be sacrificed instead, saving Ismael. The Surah mentions that the Prophets and messengers such as Noah, Ibrahim, Moses, Haroon, Illyas, Looth, and Yoonus were all faithful servants of Allah. Just like mankind, the Jinn will also be summoned for reckoning. The Surah explains that the Angels, who are believers, always glorify Allah and are lined up to serve Him at any time. The Almighty Lord Allah is glorified above what the disbelievers fabricate. This Surath, containing 182 verses, ends by wishing peace upon the Messengers and declaring that all praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Universe.
