(36) Yaaseen

With the name of Allah, the Impartial, the Compassionate.

(36) Yaaseen

The name of this Surath came from the first verse ‘Yaaseen’ which means ‘Oh Man’. This Surath contains 83 verses and it is revealed during the mid-period of Messenger’s Meccan life. This Surath is called the ‘Heart of the Book’. Lord has taught through His Messenger that this Surath should be read with its content to the one who is approaching death. It is told that Adhikr (Wise Book) is revealed to warn heedless people who were not warned by their forefathers before. It warns that the word of the punishment has happened upon most of the disbelievers so that they will never believe. The one who follows Adhikr and fears the Impartial Lord unseeingly can only be reminded of Adhikr. It warns that every individual’s deeds whether good or bad as well as the heritage he/she left behind for the coming generations are being recorded in a Book.

By mentioning a country to which three Messengers were deputed and its people rejected them and the Message, the Three Time Knower Lord reminds the Messenger and the believers that it is the common approach of all people towards their Messenger in every period. Then it is told about a believer who was living far away from disbelieving people and hurried into them while hearing about the news of three Messengers, he pleaded with the people to follow the Messengers who didn’t ask for any reward other than following the Guidance. But the arrogant people killed him. By quoting the consequence of killing a believer, the Lord warns the people till the Last Day that it will be very severe. By pointing out the creation of pairs in the plants growing from the earth, from themselves and from the creatures they do not know, and in the fixed movement of the sun and the moon, taming the livestock to mankind for different use, Lord Allah wants mankind to approve His Oneness. By reminding the life in the grave, resurrection, and the Day of Judgement, the Lord commands mankind to lead an aimful life. This Surath ends by glorifying the Lord having the kingship in the heavens, earth, and all things in between them including mankind, and warns that to Him everyone will return.
