(28) Qasas

This Surath containing 88 verses is revealed during the mid-Meccan period of Messenger’s life. It got the name Qasas (Narration of historical events) from verse 25. It explains the historical events of Messenger Moses. Pharoah had decided to kill every male child of the Children of Israel while sparing their daughters. So the Three-Time-Knower Lord made Pharoah adopt Moses during childhood itself. Then it explains how Moses migrated to Midian and how he spent 10 years there. Then narrates about the meeting of the Lord at Mount Sinai on his way back to Egypt with his family. There he was appointed as the Messenger and Prophet to the Pharoah and his people. And due to the request from Moses, his half-brother Haroon was also appointed as a Prophet to assist him. Even after observing the Signs of the Lord through Moses, Pharoah transgressed and rejected the Messenger and the Message. Thus, Pharoah and his folk were drowned in the sea while Messenger Moses and the Children of Israel were saved. This Surath explains about Qaroon who was given abundant wealth. When he exulted upon his wealth by forgetting Lord, Lord made the earth to swallow him along with his wealth.

The scenario of aimless Arabic Quran reading Fujjar (hypocrites and their heedless followers) arguing, quarreling, and blaming each other in Hell are explained. They will not learn and reform from the Signs of the Lord. The believer who testifies Adhikr which is the Ticket to Paradise will have the Best destiny. It is also commanded not to invoke any deities besides Lord Allah, to whom everyone will be returned. And the Surath ends by saying that everything will be destroyed except His Face.
