(27) An-Naml
This Surath which contains 93 verses got the name ‘An-Naml (the Ant)’ from verse 18 which says: “When the troop of Prophet Suleiman came upon the valley of the ants”. This Surath is revealed during the mid-Meccan period of the Messenger. It explains the historical events between Moses and the transgressed Pharaoh. It explains the character of Prophet Suleiman, the abundant Lord’s Bounty bestowed upon him, and the historical events between him and Queen Sheba. Then it explains the transgressed and wrongdoing people of Messenger Swalih and Prophet Looth who rejected Adhikr and how they were wiped out.
Pointing out the aim of creating heavens and earth and the aim of deputation of mankind to earth, Lord is repeatedly asking that is there another deity along with Him. No Messenger, Prophet, and believer can make anyone believer if they don’t believe in Adhikr and the Hereafter. So as one of the 10 Crucial Signs of Doomsday, Lord will send a Beast to witness against mankind saying that they were not having confirmed belief with verses of the Lord. The Surath ends by reminding us that the Lord is not unaware of whatever mankind is doing.
