(20) Thwaha
This Surath containing 135 verses is revealed during the mid-Meccan life of Messenger Muhammad. It got the name Thwaha from the first verse which says: “Oh the purest one chosen for the Mission”. It also explains about choosing Messenger Moses for the Lord’s Mission at the sacred valley of Thwoor. Then it explains the first man Adam who became aimless by the influence of Satan and his repenting to the Lord.
After the first migration of Messenger Muhammad’s followers to Ethiopia, Umer who was one of the mighty among the Quraysh Tribe decided to assassinate Messenger. On his way for assassination, he came to know that his sister and brother-in-law had accepted Islam. So he decided to kill them before killing Messenger. On reaching there he heard the verses of this Surath and It influenced his soul and he felt guilty. So he went to Messenger and decided to accept Islam.
Historical events between Messenger Moses and arrogant Pharoah, the surrender of sorcerers before the Signs of Lord, and saving of Israel Children from Pharoah by splitting the Red Sea are also explained in this Surath. It teaches that those who testify Adhikr, Lord will make everything easy for him in this world as well as in the Hereafter. And whoever falsifies Adhikr, Lord will make everything difficult for him in this world and will have severe punishment in the Hereafter.
