(110) Annaswr

This Surah got the name “Annaswr (The Help)” from the first verse, which says, “when there comes to you the Help of Allah and the Victory.” This Surah, the revelation of which is entered at Medina, was revealed during the Farewell Pilgrimage of the Messenger. This Surah, containing three verses and considered as one-fourth of the Lord’s Book, is the last Surah revealed as a whole. After the revelation of this Surah, the Messenger called Fathima, the Messenger’s daughter, and said, “The revelation of this Surah is a sign of the end of my mission.” Hearing this, Fathima cried. When the Messenger consoled her, saying, “You be patient; you will be the first from our family to join me in Paradise,” she smiled.

The believers, while receiving any victory, favor, or help from Allah—the Lord—without boasting or rejoicing as if it were by their own ability, will consider that it is from Allah, and will turn to Him by praising and glorifying Him and by seeking forgiveness from Him. After revealing this Surah, the Messenger used to praise and glorify Allah and seek forgiveness from Him, saying: “Subhanakallahumma Rabbana wa bihamdik, Allahummaghfir lana—Glory to You, O Allah, our Lord, and praise be to You; O Allah, forgive us.”
