(100) Al-Aadiyath

With the name of Allah, the Impartial, the Compassionate.

(100) Al-Aadiyath

This Surath got the name “Al Aadiyath (the War Horses)” from the first verse, which says “By those which run, sticking the hoof with panting breath”. This Surath was revealed in the early period of the Messenger’s Meccan life.

If the war horses are serving their masters by rushing to the battlefield, mankind, who are bestowed with intelligence, are doing ingratitude to their Master Lord–the Creator–by forgetting the aim of life. The mankind who are thirsty for wealth, high-quality horses, and other conveniences are living here, forgetting the fact that on the Day of Judgment, they will be resurrected, and all secrets in their hearts will be revealed. This Surath, containing eleven verses, ends by pointing out that indeed their Lord is well acquainted with them on that Day.
