And whenever “Qur’an” is read upon them, they do not fall in prostration.
“Qur’an” means “Repeated Reading.” As explained in verses 15: 90–91 and 21: 24, all Books revealed to the 313 Messengers are Adhikr, which is for repeated reading.
This is one of the fifteen verses where the prostration of recitation is compulsory. While reading or hearing the verses of prostration, the Arabic Qur’an–reading Fujjar do not fall in prostration seeking nearness to the Lord. But in the five daily prayers—performed bodily without participation of the soul—they peck at prostration like a chicken at its food; thus, as explained in verse 22: 18, heinous punishment has come true upon them. As explained in verses 4: 150–151, heinous punishment is kept prepared for these disbelievers. Since there is no group of believers anywhere in the world, the mode of prayer and lifestyle of the odd believers who testify Adhikr should be as explained in verses 7: 205–206. See explanation 32: 13–16; 39: 32–33; and 68: 42–43.
