Indeed, they were not expecting their reckoning.
The believers lead life in this fourth phase with the awareness that the aim of deputing mankind to this earth is to prepare Paradise for the seventh phase, and that about every second of this worldly life after the age of fifteen, everyone must answer before the Lord by reading the Book of deeds fastened around the neck—which will be given to each individual as an illuminated, spread-open Book—as told in verses 17: 13-14. But the Arabic Qur’an-reading Fujjar live here without such awareness. On the Day of Judgement, when these hypocrites and their blind followers see what is recorded from this world in their Book of deeds, they will wail, as explained in verse 18: 49. See explanation 59: 18-19; 62: 5-9; and 69: 19-22.
