(An-Naba') 78 : 11
وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا

And didn’t We make the daytime for seeking livelihood?

In Islam—the natural way of life the Lord is satisfied with for all His creatures, as told in verse 3: 19—daytime is fixed for seeking livelihood and night for taking rest. But the Arabic Qur’an-reading Fujjar, who are obliged to inform mankind about these things, are strutting at night in towns and industries. The Wise, Three-Time-Knower Lord Allah allowed mankind to work in the daytime because then it is possible to receive oxygen from green nature and thus gain energy and refreshment, whereas in the absence of sunlight at night, the quantity of carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere. See explanation 17: 12.
