(Al Qamar) 54 : 29
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
Then they called their companions, thus he took that venture, then he killed her.
The camel of Allah had water every day, whereas the people and their cattle had water only on fixed days. People suffering from water scarcity considered the camel a nuisance. Then they plotted to kill the camel, and thus the worst evil one among them killed it. They, by hastening for the punishment, told Swalih: "We have fulfilled our venture, then you bring the punishment you have been promising!" Then Messenger Swalih told them to wait for three days. On the third day night, they plotted to kill Messenger Swalih and his family. But before dawn the next day, those people were destroyed by an earthquake. See explanation 11: 64-66; and 27: 47-50.
