فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
Then he came nearer as two bows or even nearer.
Since the shape of Angel Jibreel with wings was just like the bow or dustpan, it is told ‘about two bows’ without saying ‘about two arrows’. ‘Two bows’ mentioned in the verse also has the meaning ‘two cubit’. See explanation 37: 1, 147.
