And those who believed will ask: "Are these the ones who were pledging by Lord Allah with their most solemn oath that indeed they are with you?" Their deeds have become futile, and they will fall as losers.
The hypocrites who were among the followers of Messenger by witnessing the Lord repeatedly pledged that they are with the believers. But Lord gave the believers among the followers of Messenger chances to expose and distinguish the hypocrites among them. The hypocrites are the liars, and enemies of the Lord, Messenger, and believers, so the Lord has killed them as told in verses 41: 28 and 63: 4.
To accept any deed and to get responded to the prayer, one should become a believer with Adhikr and should form the true belief in the Lord as submitted by the 6236 verses as explained in verse 2: 186. The prayers of disbelievers are in vain as told in verses 13: 14 and 40: 50. The characters of Fujjar are portrayed in verses 9: 75-77 as: "The Fujjar who made a covenant with Lord Allah: 'If Lord gives us from His Bounty, we will surely spend it in charity, and we will surely be among the righteous'. But when Lord gave them from His Bounty, they were niggardly with It and were turning away neglecting It. Then Lord penalized them with hypocrisy in their hearts up to the Day when they meet Him, because of their breaking covenant made with the Lord, and because of that they were lying". Any deed of Fujjar who are serving Satan are futile as explained in verse 2: 221. They will get Hell as a penalty for their aimless and heedless life in the fourth phase by doing soulless prayers, fasting, pilgrimages, charities, etc. See explanation 2: 6-7; 3: 77, 120, and 4: 142-144.
