(Zukhuruf) 43 : 56
فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ سَلَفًا وَمَثَلًا لِلْآخِرِينَ
Thus We made them as past, and an example for the descendants.
‘For the descendants’ mentioned in the verse includes those who remained in Egypt after drowning Pharoah and his troops, the children of Israel whom Allah saved by crossing the sea, and all people from then to the Last Day. See explanation 2: 65-66; 5: 60; 9: 69-70; and 40: 4-5.
