(Mu'amin) 40 : 21

Haven’t they traveled along the earth, and then haven’t they seen the consequence of those before them? They were greater in mighty and heritage than these, then Allah seized them due to their offenses, and they had none to protect from Allah.

The ancestors had more pride, dignity, and longevity than the people of today. But when they rejected the Messengers with whom the Lord’s Book Adhikr was sent, they became wrongdoers and transgressors and were then destroyed, as explained in verses 6: 47 and 46: 35. Neither their leaders, followers, nor any of their creations in the land could save them from punishment. This verse warns that these people will also face the same consequences if they continue their arrogance and denial of Adhikr. When other people of Messenger Muhammed also become wrongdoers and transgressors like the Arabic Quran-reading Fujjar by hiding and rejecting Adhikr, the end of the world will come. See explanation 35: 42-44.
