خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ ۖ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ ۖ كُلٌّ يَجْرِي لِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ۗ أَلَا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ
He has created the Heavens and earth with Truth, He wraps night upon day, and He wraps day upon night, and He subjected the sun and the moon, each is moving up to a fixed time, know that He is the Exalted, the Forgiving.
As told in verse 45: 22, the heavens and the earth are created to depute mankind to the earth as the Lord’s vicegerents and for rewarding according to whatever each soul earns. By saying ‘He wraps night upon day and He wraps day upon night’ it is understood that the earth has a spherical shape. See explanation 25: 62; 35: 13-14; 36: 40.
