(Zumar) 39 : 18

Those who hear the Words and follow It in the best manner, such are those whom Allah has guided, and such are those who are endowed with intelligence.

When Adhikr—the Best Interpretation of the Lord’s Book—is explained, whoever hears It carefully and follows It in the best manner, such is endowed with intelligence and is guided. They are the servants with the right to receive glad tidings. It is not told in this verse ‘Ahsana Minhu,’ which means ‘best from It’; instead, it is told ‘Ahasanahu,’ which means ‘in the best manner.’ That means the Book should be followed as a whole in the best manner, and it doesn’t mean to follow the best from the Book. Those who follow some of the verses while rejecting others have humiliation in this world and heinous punishment in the Hereafter, as told in verses 2: 85 and 5: 33. See explanation 2: 2-5; 3: 190-191; 25: 27-30; 39: 55, 58-59.
