(Fathwir) 35 : 22
وَمَا يَسْتَوِي الْأَحْيَاءُ وَلَا الْأَمْوَاتُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُسْمِعُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۖ وَمَا أَنْتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُورِ
And nor the living and the dead are equal; indeed Allah makes hear whom He intends while you are not to make hear the ones who are in the graves.
Believers who live here preferring the soul and the Hereafter are not equal to hypocrites who prefer the body and the worldly life. As stated in verses 36: 69-70, Adhikr—the Manifest Reading—was revealed to warn those who are alive so that the word of punishment may be proved upon the disbelievers. It is also stated in verses 56: 79-82 that the honorable reading, Adhikr, can only be conceived by those who wish to purify themselves. See explanation 6: 36; 7: 26; 27: 80-81.
