(Al-Baqara) 2 : 27

Those who are breaking covenant made with Lord Allah after it has been met and cutting aside what Allah has ordered to be joined and are causing mischief on the earth, are the only losers.

This verse is a reply to the disbelievers who consider the similitudes of insects quoted in verses as worthless such as the bees in 16: 68, the fly in 22: 73, ants in 27: 18, and the spider in 29: 41. They are the Arabic Quran reading Fujjar who have made their food ‘rejecting Adhikr’ as told in 56: 82. It is told in verse 2: 99: “None hides verses of the Lord except the transgressors”. It is told in verse 39: 63: “Those who hide verses of the Lord, they are the only losers”. The transgressors are those who don’t keep the covenant made with the Lord mentioned in verses 7: 172-173 after it is reminded through the Book. It is told in verse 7: 102: “We found no man fulfilling their covenants who were destroyed in the nations before, but most of them We found as transgressors”. Verses such as 9: 53, 67; 10: 33; 24: 55; 32: 18; 57: 16, 26-27; 59: 19; 61: 5 and 63: 6 also mention the hypocritical transgressors.

Whenever the believer sees any similitude quoted in Adhikr, he will consider it seriously. It is told in verses 39: 23: “The Lord has revealed the Best Speech, the Book which consists of allegorical and repeating verses; by that the skins of those who heed the Lord will be thrilled, then their skins and hearts will become soft towards Adhikr, that is the Guidance of Lord Allah, with It He leads the one whom He wishes, and whom the Lord lets go astray, then there is none to guide for him”.

The believers keep the covenant by praying with the soul ‘Sayidul Isthigfar’ (the most exalted prayer to seek forgiveness) in the dusk and dawn as: “Oh Allah! You are my Lord, there is no Deity except You, You have created me, I am your servant and I am living with that covenant and promise as far as I can, I seek refuge to You about the evil that I produce, I disclose before You the blessings that you have bestowed upon me, I disclose in front of You my offenses, so You may forgive my offenses; indeed, there is no one to forgive the offenses except You”. The Lord will ask about the covenant when He summons everyone on the Day of Judgment. That is the promise mentioned in this prayer. It is told in verses 50: 31-32: “The Paradise will be brought near to the heedful who is oft-repenting and keeping ‘Sayidul Isthigfar’ prayer”.

It is told in verse 13: 25: “Those who are breaking covenant made with Lord Allah after it has been met and putting aside what the Lord has ordered to be joined and are causing mischief on the earth; for such ones have the curse, and for them have an evil house”. Verses such as 2: 121; 7: 178 and 63: 9 end as: “They are the only losers”.
