Our Lord! You forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day of Reckoning".
Ibrahim had sought forgiveness to Lord for his father as told in verses 26: 86-89 as: “And you forgive my father; indeed, he has been among the strayed. And you don’t disgrace me on the Day when all are resurrected, the Day when wealth or children will not benefit anyone; except who came to Lord with a tranquil heart”. When Ibrahim was showed with the Secret Sovereignty of the universe, he saw his father as a swine in Hell. On account of that Ibrahim realized that his father is an enemy of Lord. So, Ibrahim apologized and repented to Lord for seeking forgiveness for his father as explained in 9: 113-114.
Adhikr is revealed to punish hypocritical men and women as well as Mushrik men and women who hide and reject It. And It is revealed to accept repentance from believing men and women. So, the Prophet and believer shouldn’t obey the Fujjar and seek forgiveness to Lord for them as explained in verses 9: 84-85. Believer is only allowed to seek forgiveness to Lord for the believing men and women as commanded in verses 47: 19 and 71: 28. See explanation 8: 74-75; 9: 67-68; 11: 47 and 75.
